Plastic Free July at The Eco Hub

This year we are celebrating Plastic Free July a little differently. Now that The Eco Hub is fully opened from Monday – Friday we are delighted that we now have our own space to promote campaigns such as Plastic Free July.

This year we are excited to re-launch our ‘Bring Your Own’ campaign which we had originally launched as part of the Towards a Plastic Free St Andrews project in 2019 however, due to the Pandemic, this campaign wasn’t able to continue. However, as we move forward, we can now spread this message. Bring Your Own is so much more than coffee cups & water bottles. We are encouraging people to bring their own cutlery, takeaway boxes, shopping bags. Whilst many businesses have moved away from single-use plastics, we need to begin to move away from single-use anything!

We are also opening The Eco Hub as a small exhibition space and we are delighted to be working with Fife-based artist Cat Coulter, whose collection The Art of Beach Cleaning will be our first exhibition! We will be displaying the exhibition throughout July & August. This is a wonderful body of work, and we hope to have many visitors!!

Anyone who visits The Eco Hub during the month of July can also enter into our free prize draw, to win a Zero Waste hamper (worth over £60). The winner will be drawn during the first week of August.

We, of course, now have our first refill station – equipped with Ecover Laundry Liquid & Washing Up Liquid, as well as Faith in Nature Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Wash. Bring your own bottle along!

Pop down to The Eco Hub this July to see our Plastic Free July celebrations in action!
