The Eco Hub- Renovation Week 2

Our progress with the renovation ploughs on this week!

The transformation has been huge, given that little time has passed since we took over the building. Our Clean and Green team has worked all hours with local tradespeople to get the building ready to open. As you can see, there’s still some work to be done, but the space is almost unrecognisable from its former use.

The team have been removing miles (and we mean miles!) of AV cables, preparing walls, plaster-boarding, and carrying out vital electrical works. The front portion of the building- where the shop and advice centre will be located- has now been plaster-boarded. The hundreds (maybe even thousands!) of holes, brackets, and marks are now gone.

Despite all this work, the actual layout of the building is not changing. One of our biggest tasks will be to install a new kitchen area, replacing an old staff toilet and tiny communal staff room. Another pending big job will be to clear the large rear garden area- watch this space for more details!

If you are a local tradesperson and would be willing to give up some of your time to help the charity with this renovation, please get in touch. We are trying to limit access to the site, so we would not be accepting other non-trade volunteers at The Eco Hub at this time. However, we have several exciting volunteering and staff positions available, so do get in touch if you would like to assist or apply to the charity.
