Volunteer at St Andrews Beach Wheelchairs!

We are looking for more volunteers for when the St Andrews Beach Wheelchairs re-open this year (from 1st May 2022 – end September 2022).

What is the project?

The St Andrews Beach Wheelchairs is a project which was established by the Hamish Foundation and is now run by St Andrews Environmental Network. The project has 6 wheelchairs (of differing shapes and sizes) which allow people with limited or no mobility to access West Sands Beach, St Andrews.

Volunteer Role:

You will be based at the Beach Wheelchair hut, situated on West Sands Road, St Andrews. You will be responsible for providing chairs to service users, showing the person/ their helper how the chair works, at the beginning of their session. Once the chair is returned you will be responsible for cleaning and sanitising the chair, ensuring it is ready for the next booking.

Full training will be provided.

Commitment:

The Beach Wheelchairs will be open Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays Wednesdays from 10am – 4pm.

We offer volunteering opportunities in shifts:

9.45am – 1pm

1pm – 4.15pm

Your availability will be requested 1 month in advance.

Benefits of volunteering:

This is an extremely rewarding role, where you will be dealing with the public, in an ideal beach-front location.
